Pink Beauty Lashes Guide

How to Prepare for Your Lash Appointment

A little preparation makes a real difference to how your lashes turn out and how long they last. Clean, product-free lashes give the adhesive a strong bond, and arriving ready means we spend your appointment on your lashes rather than on removing yesterday’s mascara. Here is everything to know before your visit, whether it is your first full set, a fill, or a fresh start after a set from somewhere else.

01.

Before every appointment

  • Come with clean, makeup-free eyes. No mascara, eyeliner, or eyeshadow. Especially avoid waterproof mascara — it leaves a residue that weakens the bond.
  • Skip oils around the eyes. Oil-based cleansers, makeup removers, moisturizers, and sunscreens all may interfere with the adhesive. Leave them off on the day of your appointment.
  • Cleanse your lashes. A quick wash with a gentle, oil-free lash cleanser the morning of your appointment removes dust and natural oils.
  • Plan to take out your contact lenses. Your eyes stay closed and relaxed for the whole appointment, and lenses can dry out. Bring your case and glasses — and if you forget, we keep a container and solution at the salon.
  • Go easy on caffeine. We ask clients to skip the coffee beforehand. Caffeine can make the eyes flutter while you are lying still, which makes precise application harder.
  • Plan your time. A new full set takes about two to two and a half hours depending on the style. Fills are shorter, from about 35 minutes up to an hour and three quarters, depending on the style and how long it has been since your last visit. Use the washroom first — you will be lying still for a while.
  • Using a lash serum? Tell us. Some serums change how well extensions bond, so mention any you use.

02.

If it is a new full set

  • Arrive with bare natural lashes. Nothing applied.
  • Think about the look you want — natural and everyday, or full and dramatic. You do not need to arrive decided. Every set starts with a consultation about length, curl, and style, and we will recommend what suits your eyes and your natural lashes.
  • Not sure which style to book? Classic, hybrid, and volume each create a different effect and take a different amount of time. Compare them on our lashes page, or mention it when you book and we will help you choose.
  • Volume takes the longest, and here is why. Our volume fans are made by hand for your natural lashes during your appointment rather than bought pre-made. That is what gives a volume set its softness — and why the appointment runs longer than a classic one.
  • Want something a little different? Coloured lash extensions can be blended into any set, from subtle tones to bolder shades. Mention it when you book.
  • Allow the full appointment time so we are never rushing.

03.

If it is a fill

  • Book the fill that matches how long it has been. We offer one-week, two-week, and three-week fills, and they are genuinely different appointments. A three-week fill takes around three times as long as a one-week fill, because there is that much more to replace. Booking a one-week fill and arriving three weeks out means there is not enough time set aside to finish the job.
  • The sooner you come back, the less there is to do. Coming in earlier in the cycle means a shorter appointment and a lower price.
  • Keep your current extensions on. Do not remove them, and try not to pick at any that have started to lift. A fill refreshes and tops up what you already have.
  • Come with them clean. Gently cleanse and brush your lashes beforehand, just as you would for a new set.
  • If a lot has shed, you may be better off with a new set than a fill. Mention it when you book so we can set aside the right amount of time either way.

Coming in with a set from somewhere else

We remove lash extensions gently, whoever applied them. Please do not pull or pick extensions off at home. Book a lash removal with us and we will take them off carefully.

We also do “foreign fills” – meaning we can do a lash extension fill if you got your new set somewhere else.

05.

On the day

  • Eat something first — you will be relaxing for a while.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and settle in. You are welcome to rest, and plenty of clients fall asleep.
  • Silence your phone so you, and your eyes, can relax.
  • We are in Old Strathcona, four blocks south of Whyte Ave, with free parking.

06.

After your appointment

Your lashes need a little care in the first day or two to set properly. Your lash technician walks you through it before you leave. If you would like everything you need at home, we offer a lash bath and aftercare kit as an add-on — a gentle cleanser and a soft brush to keep your lashes clean and fluffy between visits.
