My name is Pinky Nguyen, and I’m the owner of Pink Beauty Lashes & Nails. In August 2018, I moved from Vietnam to Canada as an international student with little more than a dream and a willingness to work hard. To support myself through school, I found a part-time job as a nail and lash technician. At the time, it was simply a way to pay my bills. I never imagined it would become my lifelong career and passion.
Like every technician, I started as a beginner.
I still remember my very first regular polish pedicure. It should have taken about 45 minutes, but it took me nearly 90. I applied far too much polish, leaving the nails soft and wrinkled the next day. The client wasn’t happy, and honestly, neither was I.
Instead of getting discouraged, I decided to become better.
Every quiet moment at the salon became practice time. I learned from experienced coworkers, watched techniques carefully, asked questions, and spent countless hours improving my skills. Over time I became confident with cuticle work, e-file techniques, gel products, acrylics, nail enhancements, and eventually eyelash extensions.
Lashes brought a whole new challenge. Like many new technicians, I was expected to learn quickly while working. My first full set took over three hours and looked nothing like I had hoped. So I bought a mannequin, practiced after work (and during any downtime at work), offered free sets to models, and continued learning until I could consistently create beautiful, long-lasting lash extensions.
Those early experiences taught me something I still believe today. Great results don’t happen by accident. They come from continuous learning, attention to detail, and genuinely caring about every client who sits in your chair.
After graduating from university in 2021, I began working full time at the small salon where I had started my career. After a few months, I realized I needed a bigger challenge. Moving to a larger salon exposed me to a wider variety of clients, more intricate nail art, and new techniques that helped me continue to grow. I was always looking for ways to improve my skills by taking advanced courses, reading, and learning from the talented technicians around me.
In 2023 I moved to Edmonton and joined another busy salon. Every salon taught me something valuable, both the things they did exceptionally well and the little details I wished could be even better. By this point, nail art, lash extensions, and helping people look and feel their best had become my passion. I was always practicing, experimenting with new trends, and refining my techniques.
In 2024, I opened my own private home salon in Old Strathcona.
Opening my home studio gave me the creative freedom I had always wanted. I could slow things down, spend more time with each client, maintain the highest hygiene standards, and create the relaxing experience I always wished more salons offered.
I had the flexibility to schedule appointments with space in between, so nobody ever felt rushed. That extra time allowed me to thoroughly clean my workspace, properly sanitize every tool, and focus on creating a calm, welcoming environment. Over the next two years, I built a loyal client base and realized Pink Beauty had become something much bigger than just me.
Today, Pink Beauty has grown into a full-service salon in Edmonton offering professional nail services, pedicures, eyelash extensions, waxing, brow services, and Japanese-inspired head spa treatments. Pink Beauty Lashes & Nails is located in Old Strathcona at 10376 78 Ave NW, Edmonton.
Although our salon has grown, our philosophy hasn’t changed.
Every technician on our team is selected not only for their technical ability, but also for their commitment to quality, cleanliness, and making every client feel welcome. We believe appointments should never feel rushed. We believe luxury is found in the details, whether that’s meticulous cuticle work, beautifully balanced lash extensions, or simply taking the time to make someone feel cared for.
One thing that has never changed is the work ethic I developed during my early years in the industry. I built my career by practicing whenever I had the opportunity, and that’s a mindset we’ve carried into Pink Beauty. Between appointments, you’ll often find our technicians practicing new nail designs, refining their techniques, or working on lash sets using mannequins. We believe great technicians never stop learning, and that commitment to continuous improvement helps us deliver the best possible experience for every client.
At Pink Beauty, we love getting to know our clients. Whether you’re visiting us while exploring Whyte Avenue, or you’re one of our regulars stopping in for your monthly pedicure, we take the time to understand your needs and make every visit something to look forward to.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in several salons, each with its own strengths. I learned something valuable from every place I worked.
When I opened Pink Beauty, my goal wasn’t to reinvent the beauty industry. It was to take everything I loved about those salons, improve the little things I thought could be even better, and create the kind of salon I’d always dreamed of working in.
Today, those ideas have become the foundation of Pink Beauty Lashes & Nails.
A few things we believe make us different:
These are the little details that make a big difference, and they’re the experience we strive to provide every time you visit.
I’m incredibly proud of how far this journey has come, from a nervous student performing her first pedicure to owning a salon built around exceptional service and genuine care for our clients.
Thank you for being part of our story. We look forward to welcoming you to Pink Beauty.
